Introduction of DFB Laser Diode Module

NEON‘s High-Speed DFB DML laser diode includes NY13D, NY15D, NYCMD, and NY55D series.

NY13D, NY15D, NYCMD series laser diode module is a directly modulated DFB laser that provides exceptional performance for linear fiber optics communications in very wide bandwidth applications. Their linear fiber optic lasers are an excellent alternative to using coaxial cable systems to transmit 12 GHz or 18 GHz signals. They offer significant improvements in the reliability of microwave communications networks by transmitting the RF signal in its original format. As a result of these properties, laser products provide significant improvements in signal quality for a wide variety of applications including antenna remoting, telemetry, timing, and reference signal distribution, measurement, and delay lines.

NY55D series high power laser diode is characterized for use as a wavelength selected source(CW optical source) in combination with the external modulators in CATV and DWDM networks, especially for super trunking and distribution. Selected wavelengths comply with ITU Grid recommendations, both in range and in channel definition. Besides, NY55D can provide high optical output power to 100 mW.

Working Principle of DFB Laser Diode Module

When the injection current of the DFB laser diode module changes with the modulation signal, the carrier concentration in the laser cavity also changes. The optical gain varies with the carrier concentration in the active region so that the optical power of the optical amplification output also changes.
